Lin-Manuel Miranda could soon have a new trophy in his collection. The Hamilton scribe is nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series Emmy for his appearance hosting Saturday Night Live. Fans might be hoping Miranda's nomination could bring him closer to earning the EGOT status, but happily, it turns out Lin-Manuel Miranda isn't far from an EGOT to begin with. The award, for those of you who don't know, is the name for an exclusive club of performers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award, hence the name EGOT.

Even if Miranda doesn't take home the Emmy in September for hosting SNL (though his "Crucible Cast Party" is more than worthy), he'll still be just as close to an EGOT as he is now. Currently, Miranda has a few Grammys — one each for In The Heights and Hamilton — and a whole collection of Tonys, also from his hit Broadway shows. But, one little known fact is that Miranda also has an Emmy, which he won pre-Hamilton fever in 2014. The songwriter/actor/icon took home the award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics with Tom Kitt for his work on "Bigger!" the opening number to the 2013 Tony Awards performed by host Neil Patrick Harris.

Miranda actually came close to getting the EGOT in February, when he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song with Moana's "How Far I'll Go." Though he lost the Oscar, chances are Miranda will get that EGOT one day. I think fans will agree that if anybody deserves the honor, it's him.
