After three months away, Kim Kardashian is officially back on social media. On Tuesday, she posted a photo of herself, Kanye West, and their two kids, Saint and North West, to her Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Alongside the sweet picture, she wrote, "Family." This is a huge step for the reality star, especially since she's been absent from all of her accounts ever since being robbed at gunpoint in Paris, France in October 2016. Some may see her photo as only a photo, but really Kardashian's social media return is setting the stage for her future on the internet.

The adorable family photo seems to be Kardashian's way of telling others that her family is more important to her now than ever. They've always been her priority, but after surviving such a horrific incident, this picture may be her way of illustrating how they are now her focus even more so than previously. Plus, before she even took to social media on Tuesday, Kardashian shared a family video on her website. It featured different clips of the 36-year-old, West, North, and Saint. Like her social media return, the footage shows that family is everything.

In October 2016, after the robbery, Kris Jenner opened up to E! News about how Kardashian's focus is on her children. She said, "She's home and that's all that matters. She wants to be with her kids and family. It's just family first."

So, how does this set the stage for what's to come on her social media? Well, Kardashian may be more careful about what exactly she posts.

Rather than her sharing real-time footage and images, the video on her website includes past clips. The photo above also seems less immediate, unlike a selfie, but that's unclear. Whatever the case, this could be a way of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star to letting everyone know that she is taking her privacy more seriously. Kardashian could've posted a selfie with the caption, "I'm back," but she didn't. The way she is handling her return says a lot. She could understandably not want to share a photo of wherever she is at that exact moment to protect herself, which is why she chose a family photo.

As Jenner also told E! News, what her daughter endured made the entire family all look at things in a new light. "You start looking at the world a little bit differently, because when you have a daughter at home who's struggling because of something horrific and tragic that happened, you start looking around a little bit differently." The momager added, "So, I think that this is a wake up call for not only our family, but just for anybody in a similar position. You just have to make sure that you do what you're supposed to do — keep it tight."

While appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October 2016, Khloé Kardashian even said her sister's approach to social media is now different. "Well, I think it’s just a wake up call to make a lot of life adjustments." She added, "I think it is important to make those adjustments and to pull back a little bit, I think is always smart."

Kardashian is opening up the door back into her life, but just slightly for now. It's clear that whatever she shares on social media from here on out will be on her own terms, in her own time, and won't compromise herself or her family.
