The MTV Movie Awards are now *drum roll* the MTV Movie & TV Awards. That's right, the award show has expanded to include TV during this golden age of scripted and marathon-worthy television. Even with a whole new category added, the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards run time is surprisingly unaffected.
According to MTV's online schedule, the 2017 MTV Movie Awards will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET and run for two hours and 10 minutes. The awards show, hosted by Adam Devine, will then be rebroadcast on repeat through the early morning hours of May 8. This two-hour, 10-minute run time is the same as listed last year, according to a 2016 Mic.com article. So, the expanded TV awards are not adding to the show, but being blended in.
According to the list of nominees on ABC, the first ever MTV Movie & TV Awards is shaking things up by combining television and film performances in award categories. Categories like Best Villain, Best Kiss, Best Hero, Best Duo, and more will feature both film and TV performances. So, all eyes are on the ceremony to see what medium comes out on top.
While the show is slated to run just over two-hours, MTV has some wiggle room with rebroadcasts scheduled after the ceremony. And, it may need it as awards shows often run late due to unexpected events. Anything can happen on live TV... Just look at some of the things that went down in MTV Movie Awards history.

That Awkward 'To Do List' Moment

If anything like this goes down on Sunday, the show could extend a little longer than planned.
