Considering Mercury is set to retrograde again beginning in Apr. 2017, I'm sure you're already wondering how long Mercury is going to be in retrograde for, just like you're subtly waiting for it to ruin your life. All the plans you have on the horizon are probably tainted with an air of uncertainty and this calm, orderly vibe you've got going on right now feels more like a calm before the storm.

If you're really into astrology and the idea that the motion of the other planets have an effect on Earth, you're borderline freaking out every time a retrograde cycle comes near. It's way too much of a coincidence that every time Mercury goes into retrograde, your life gets messy. Plans don't go accordingly, commitments become unmanageable, and everything you think you can count on seems to challenge your trust. And because you believe in these coincidences so much, retrograde is a very real phenomena for you and your life.

So the fact that this cycle is going to last from Apr. 9 to May 4, does not excite you. That means there's nearly a full month ahead of chaos. A full month of your spring. During a time when all you want is to bliss out and relax in the finally warmer weather, you have to worry that everything you count on is going to fail you. But really, it doesn't have to be that dramatic. If you don't let your life fall apart during this cycle, it can't. All you have to do is take the power away from the retrograde by believing that you can overcome it.

The best way for you to do this is to plan ahead. Plan for everything to go wrong and be flexible. When you're traveling, make sure you're prepared for delays and lost baggage and extra stresses. When you're dealing with your partner, be extra patient. When you're dealing with clients at work, be extra diligent. When you're making plans, make sure you're extra clear. If you take these precautions, you should be able to get ahead of any planetary changes that challenge you to lose your cool.

A month is along time to live in fear that everything is going to go wrong, but once that cycle is over, you've got the whole summer to relax and let your guard down again. Besides, taking extra precautions to keep your life in good standing is never a bad practice. It will be good for you to see your own personal strength and learn that while you can't always count on everyone around you, you can always count on yourself. And that practice is invaluable.
