I feel like it has been far too long since I have tuned in to a rose ceremony. For parts of the year, it seems like viewers are going from one Bachelor show to the next without a breather and then all of a sudden there is a break in the action. But, fear no longer, because Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor will be starting up again Jan. 2 — just in time to start our year off right. Nick has been waiting a long time for his shot at love, so let's hope he makes it out of this season with a soulmate. If he doesn't find love, he could still walk away with a decent number in his bank account. But, that's only if Nick Viall gets paid to be The Bachelor.

There is no report about the exact amount he will make, but it is safe to say that Nick will be paid for his turn at the helm this season. Bachelors and Bachelorettes get paid to be the star but the contestants are there purely for the experience/fame/potential for love and receive zero compensation. (ABC declined to comment on Bachelor salaries.) The thing that complicates this is that reports of compensation have varied for all seasons. If I had to venture a guess about the reason for this, I would say that it likely has to do with their fame walking into the mansion. Nick for example, is well-known and has appeared on several spinoffs of the Bachelor franchise. He will probably be on the higher paid side of the salary spectrum.

If we look at other Bachelors, we can get an idea about how much of a payday Nick is looking at for this season. According to WetPaint, Sean Lowe was paid somewhere between $75,000 and $90,000 for his season on The Bachelor. Emily Maynard, on the other hand, was paid a reported $250,000 for her turn as the Bachelorette. Based on these alleged numbers, Nick will likely be walking away with a fairly decent check. After all, he is a fan-favorite and he has paid his dues by (unsuccessfully) being on two previous seasons of The Bachelorette and a season of Bachelor In Paradise.

Even if Nick isn't one of the highest paid Bachelors, you can bet he will get some Instagram endorsement deals after the show airs. If he manages to find love, it could be even better for him. Just look at Jade and Tanner, who Us Weekly reported were on track to earn a million dollars in 2016. Or look at Ben and Lauren who got their own spinoff show. It seems it's as lucrative as it is lovely to find your soulmate on television, and Nick could be next.
