How British MPs Are Responding To The Parliament Attack
At least one man was shot after an officer was stabbed outside the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday, Mar. 22 in London, England. In a possibly related incident on the Westminster Bridge, reports from outlets including BBC allege several people have sustained life-threatening injuries, and at least one woman has died, after a car plowed into pedestrians. According to Scotland Yard in a statement, officials are treating the incidents as a terrorist attack "until we know otherwise."
According to NBC, President of the United States Donald Trump has responded to the incident, saying, "I was just getting an update on London… some big news having to do with London just happened." US State Department Spokesperson Mark Toner confirmed the US is prepared and ready to assist UK authorities in a statement, as The Guardian reports: “We are following the concerning situation outside the UK Parliament. Our hearts go out to those affected. We stand ready to assist in any way the UK authorities would find helpful. The safety and security of US citizens overseas is one of our priorities. Our embassy in London is monitoring the situation closely.”
As a result, the UK Parliament has been placed in lockdown, and MPs are taking to Twitter to report on and respond to the attack.
