In The Bustle Booth With Jeannie Mai

When celebrities come into Bustle HQ in New York, whether it's for a photoshoot, videoshoot, or a Facebook Live, we want to give them the chance to leave their mark. Literally. So we hand them a pen, a piece of paper, a few questions, and ask them to get creative. The rest is up to them. This time, fashion expert, The Real co-host, and documentary producer Jeannie Mai is leaving her mark in the Bustle Booth.

While Jeannie Mai's stellar hosting abilities on The Real may have earned her a 2017 Emmy nomination, she's far from resting on her laurels. Her project is the feature-length documentary Bought, Sold and Returned. The film is intended to shed light on the problem of human trafficking and follows several Vietnamese girls who are attempting to return home and reclaim their lives after being sold into modern-day slavery. It's a heart-breaking topic, but a passion project for Mai, whose father is an immigrant from Vietnam.

But even as her star rises and her fame grows, Mai still remains super accessible to her fans. She engages with them and brings attention to her favorite designers by inviting her followers to #ShopMaiLook whenever she posts about what she's wearing. In fact, she's utterly herself all across social media, liberally sprinkling in emojis and hashtags and giving glimpses into her personal life.

So, is it any wonder that she so successfully made the Bustle Booth all her own? Read on for insight into her eternal optimism, her fave Instagram follow, and the most genius coffee order I've ever come across.
