Kensington Palace announced on Monday morning that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her third child, and with that comes a bundle of other questions. For one thing, is Kate Middleton having a boy or a girl? Unsurprisingly, for such a high profile mother, the speculation has already begun.

The official press release from the royal family noted that Middleton is suffering from severe morning sickness, also known as hyperemesis gravidarum. This is not unusual for her, having also experienced the condition during both of her previous pregnancies, but it does indicate that she is likely still in the first trimester. Traditionally, families can discover the sex of their future children at the 20 week ultrasound, sometimes a month earlier.

But that doesn't mean Middleton will announce the news. With her first two children, fans had to wait until the baby was born to find out the sex.

However, that doesn't stop the world from guessing, making polls on Twitter, and betting on the sex of the baby who will knock Prince Harry down another peg away from the throne. According to the Daily Mirror, the highest odds are that the Duke and Duchess will have a baby girl named Alice. The favorite name for a baby boy is Arthur.

It would be sweet for Prince George to have a younger brother, just like his father. There are a lot of other girls in the royal family, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Lady Louise Windsor. At the same time, who would deny Princess Charlotte a little sister?

No matter what happens, the new royal baby is going to be something to talk about. The lack of details just makes for more guessing and fun.

Correction: A previous version of this story misstated when the sex of Middleton's second child was revealed.
