Madeline Might Be Dead On 'Big Little Lies'

The town of Monterey is full of wealth and beautiful people, but in the new HBO show Big Little Lies, it's also full of secrets. The first episode of the seven-part mini-series was a little slow, but gave us a look into the lives of the key characters. So far we know that someone is dead, but the identity of the victim has yet to be revealed. Is Reese Witherspoon's character dead on Big Little Lies? If you watched the first episode, there seemed to be a lot of clues that her character, Madeline, could be the one who died.

Madeline Mackenzie is one of the moms who rules Monterey. She has a daughter named Chloe who’s starting first grade with Jane’s son and Celeste’s twin boys. She also has an older daughter with her ex-husband Nathan, who’s wife, Bonnie, also has a daughter in the first grade. I know, it’s a lot to take in. So far, we know that she still hasn't really gotten over whatever happened between her and her ex, even though she’s married to Adam Scott (which is crazy because he’s amazing). She also isn’t a big fan of the fact that her teenage daughter is bonding with Bonnie. You got all that?

We got a glimpse into Madeline’s life last episode and it seems like she’s the queen bee of Monterey and if we’ve learned anything from Mean Girls, it’s that the queen bee always gets taken out. She knows all the best gossip and her nose is always in everyone else’s business. She’s nice to the people she’s close with, but pretty much talks trash about the rest of the people around her, which makes her a prime target.

Besides the random people around town being questioned about Madeline we know that there are two people that will definitely want her out of the way. First, Renata. After the incident with Ziggy and Amabella, it was clear there’s going to be two groups of moms, the team Renata and team Madeline. Since Jane didn’t stand up for herself, Madeline took charge and Renata wasn’t happy about it. It seems the tension between the two women can only get worse from here.

The other person is Perry. No, they haven’t interacted on the show yet, but we know that Madeline likes to help the defenseless. What do you think Madeline’s going to do when she finds out Celeste is being abused by her husband? She’s going to try and step in to save her. Perry is dangerous and I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to kill Madeline.

If the TV show follows the book plot line, then Madeline will not be dead at the end of all this. As it turns out Perry will be the one who’s killed and you won’t feel bad about it in the slightest. He’s the worst and everyone will be better off without him.

As to who kills him? Well, you’ll just have to wait and find out.
