Marc Jacobs' New Highlighter Is Stunning

by Rachel Nussbaum

Although it's not exactly a Harry Potter-inspired highlighter (suggestive wink to brands, that is what I want), the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter is a doppelganger for Felix Felicis — golden, shimmery, and promising a good day in a bottle. Soon, we'll be able to bask in the light of a coconut-infused gel that promises to also do good things for your skin. Soon. If you're wondering whether Marc Jacobs' new highlighter is available, it's a mixed bag of news.

While the $44 dollar highlighting gel was available for early preview purchase through the Sephora app on Feb. 26 (and has since sold out), Sephora says more highlighters are arriving Mar. 3, so look for it then. Described as "a lightweight, coconut-infused gel highlighter," the brand touts it as both a foundation/primer add-in à la Cover FX Enhancer Drops, and a standalone highlighting gel.

There's something about a gel formula that gets me every time, but MJ also made it extra worth the money with some skincare benefits. They claim provitamin B5 and five forms of coconut to do their skincare bidding: coconut alkanes help with longer wear, coconut milk hydrates, coconut water provides electrolytes, coconut polysaccharides "condition," and coconut fragrance makes you feel like you're on a tropical beach (my words, not theirs).

Doesn't it look uncannily like how you mentally pictured Felix Felicis in the Harry Potter books? The single golden peach shade is named "Dew You?," but I shall nickname it Felix. The brand writes that it was "inspired by Marc Jacobs's love of coconut water and a radiant complexion," both solid enough inspos. No swatches are available yet, but Marc Jacobs' Global Artistry Ambassador Hung Vanngo used the gel for celebs like Kate Bosworth on the Oscars' red carpet.

Until Mar. 3, I'll be keeping an eagle eye out for the Dew Drops on the brand and Vanngo's accounts. I mean, that gleam. It'll be our lucky day.
