'The Handmaid's Tale' Has A Bigger Story To Tell

The first three episodes of The Handmaid's Tale have already created a big stir. From the cast claiming that the show isn't "feminist" in any way to the prescient and political nature of its content, Hulu's latest show is, in many ways, controversial. Three episodes of the series appeared on Hulu simultaneously on April 26, but will The Handmaid's Tale have more than three episodes? Viewers shouldn't panic, as the dystopian series, which stars Elisabeth Moss and Alexis Bledel, has a much bigger story to tell.

Based on Margaret Atwood's novel, which was released in 1985, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale is set in the not too distant future, where a fundamentalist government called Gilead has taken over the United States and completely controls the rights of women. In particular, young, fertile women are forced to to become Handmaids and give birth to children on behalf of the richest members of society. If you thought that The Hunger Games was terrifying, think again.

The Handmaid's Tale is set to be a major hit, with incredible performances from its cast, which includes Joseph Fiennes and Samira Wiley. Luckily for fans who are already hooked on the series, The Handmaid's Tale received a 10 episode order from Hulu and the streaming service will be releasing new episodes weekly.

While viewers might have gotten used to being able to marathon watch an entire series in one go, not all shows follow the same model. Netflix, for instance, releases some shows week to week, and Hulu is likely keen to reveal the secrets of The Handmaid's Tale slowly to create anticipation.

As the first three episodes of The Handmaid's Tale have already made such a huge impression, it'll be exciting to see how viewers react to the rest of the series.
