At this point, there's really no telling what Jared Leto might do at any given moment. The Suicide Squad star and 30 Seconds To Mars frontman is relatively unpredictable, and at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, his outfit fit the mold. Dressed like a fashionista by day, magician by night, Leto hit the red carpet in a sequined cape that all of us would be lucky to have in our wardrobes.

Leto's appearance with 30 Seconds To Mars at the VMAs is particularly special, as it's been over four years since the debut of the band's last album. The trio will perform their new single, "Walk on Water," at the show.

“‘Walk on Water’ is a song about change,” Leto told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s a song about freedom, it’s an optimistic song. It’s a hopeful song, it’s a song that speaks to the times that we’re living in.”

And a special night requires a special cape. The garment is a celebration of blue and green sequins, sewn over what appears to be a red lining. It somehow looks like both a costume and a piece of high fashion, and Leto took the whole vibe even further by casually tossing it over a pink and red high-neck blouse. Add in his dark aviators and scruffy beard, and you've got yourself a look that only the Artist Formally Known as Jordan Catalano could pull off.
