As we all know, back in October, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week. In the star's account to the French police, as reported by People, the robbers entered her hotel room while her bodyguard was out, handcuffed her, and stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry. Luckily, although the events left Kardashian deeply shaken and disturbed, she wasn't hurt, and justice is being served; in January, the French police arrested 10 people in connection with the crime. The whole ordeal sounds terrifying, but Kardashian has largely kept quiet on what it was like – until now. Sunday's episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians will feature Kim talking about the robbery, and on Twitter earlier in the day, she explained why she chose to use that platform to share her experience.

Given how private Kim has been about the robbery in the past, the decision to open up her time in Paris might be surprising to many. But it makes a lot of sense, as Kardashian says in her tweets. After all, when the robbery first occurred, most major news outlets picked up the story. The most obvious reason for Kim to give her testimony of the events is that it puts the narrative back into her own hands. The episode of KUWTK will give the star a chance to tell her version of events, without the story getting warped by the bias or commentary of an outside source. In a string of tweets, Kardashian wrote that sharing this particular story has been so difficult for her, but explained why she's chosen this time to open up.

Kim went on to explain the significance of these events, and why she needed to tell the story on Sunday. Since she already shares so much of her life with the public, it does make sense that she would want to share such a profound event on her show.

Kim also shared how grateful she is to have made it out of the situation safely, and for the support of her friends and family.

She also took a moment to thank the French law enforcement, who responded to the robbery and investigated the incident further.

Yet while Kardashian clearly appreciates all the help from the French authorities, the robbery has understandably left her wary of spending time in Paris. “I have a feeling that it’s not the right place for me, I mean Paris. It’s not a place for me on the emotional plane,” Kardashian said in her original testimony, according to the French newspaper Le Journal du Dumanche.

Unfortunately, she'll have to revisit the difficult emotional place that Paris represents for her on Sunday, and it's sure to be a pretty heavy episode. However, these tweets show that this is the right time for the star to tell this tough story, and hopefully, the experience will be cathartic. It will give her a chance to set the record straight on what happened without going through a news outlet that could mess with the story, and provide some much-needed closure.
