In the wake of the announcement that the Kardashian-Jenner clan has officially gotten larger, TMZ reports that Kim Kardashian was in the delivery room for the baby's birth. According to the site, Kardashian was fully involved in both the labor and delivery portions of her third child’s birthing process and the report goes on to share that the reality star was the very first person to share direct skin to skin contact with the 7 lb., 6 oz. newborn.

Although the unnamed surrogate, who the 37-year-old beauty entrepreneur reveals gave birth to the healthy baby girl on Jan. 15, 2018 at 12:47 AM, was allowed to spend a short period of time with the infant, it would be Kardashian who would ultimately share the first bonding moments with the new baby, according to TMZ. The moment was, no doubt, an extremely intimate and unforgettable experience for the joyous parents, to say the least. In fact, reports claim that the baby was placed under the immediate care of Kardashian and her husband Kanye West following the delivery.

As for her first interaction with the infant, Kardashian appears to have reportedly followed the Kangaroo Care approach of welcoming her new bundle of joy into the world early Monday morning. The technique, which involves the sharing of instantaneous and uninterrupted contact between parent and newborn, is said to offer many short and longterm benefits for both the mother and offspring. After all, it provides physiologic stability for both during the vulnerable period immediately after birth, according to an article by Medscape.

Fit Pregnancy also explained that skin to skin contact provides several advantages, including improved stability of the heart and breathing rate of the baby, stress and pain reduction in the newborn, and boosted infant brain development in the child — all while helping to reduce incidents of postpartum depression and anxiety for the new parents.

Based on her statement, this report would certainly be in line with how joyful and humbled Kardashian appeared. She wrote,

"Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl. We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care."

In addition to Kardashian and West, TMZ reports that family's matriarch and momager Kris Jenner was at the hospital for the event, along with other members of the Kardashian collective. However, it appears that they were reportedly not in the actual delivery room for the actual birth.

Kim has remained open about the dangers of her carrying another child — an issue which ultimately prompted her to seek out the help of a surrogate for the birth of baby number three. She first made the announcement that she and West were expecting back in September 2017, during a trailer for Season 14 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Although the Selfish author was not able to birth the child on her own, she once expressed the thought that having a child via surrogate is harder than pregnancy during an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in November 2017.

As she told ET,

"Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control. And, you know, obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still ... knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not, you know, my baby now, it's hard for me."

Now officially a mother times three, it appears from this report that Kim Kardashian was dedicated to ensuring that her newest baby’s birth would remain just as personal and intimate as previous birthing experiences with her other children, North and Saint West, likely were.
