Kit Harington Dismisses This 'GoT' Fan Theory

There's no time to fritter away on fan theories when you're the King in the North. At least, that's how Jon Snow – known in real life as Kit Harington — feels when it comes to the Game of Thrones fandom's unique relationship with fan theories. Of all the fan theories out there, the Prince Who Was Promised theory doesn't excite Harington at all, according to the Huffington Post. How is it that the man who is most directly associated to a majority of the possible Game of Thrones fan theories that could still come to fruition not geeking out the hardest about them? I'm willing to be big money that Harington's non-interest in the Prince Who Was Promised theory actually happening on Game of Thrones could be a huge indicator that we, the fans, should prepare for it to not happen on the show.

According to the Huffington Post, Harington went on record as denouncing the Prince Who Was Promised theory — which basically predicts a hero will be reborn that could save the world — by painting a picture of how pragmatic yet unenthused his character, Jon Snow, would be upon hearing said theory.

I think you have to wait and see what happens this year, and if we find out anything more about Jon. I think Jon would hate the term ‘The Prince That Was Promised.’ If someone turned to him and said, ‘You’re The Prince That Was Promised,’ he just wouldn’t pay much attention. That’s what I love about him, so I don’t really care about it either. You know, I think that’s what’s great about him. He’s got very little ego on him.

So, if both Harington and Snow are so over the idea of this huge prophecy, does that mean that it won't happen during Season 7 of Game of Thrones? I mean, I certainly wouldn't ignore the fact that Harington told readers to just wait and see what happens. That certainly doesn't discount the possibility that something huge and life-altering could happen, but it also doesn't confirm that the Prince Who Was Promised theory could happen any time soon.

The Season 7 trailer has promised a war and potentially more than one, if those pesky White Walkers make their way south. For now, the impending battle between Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, and Jon Snow (who may actually team with Daenerys against Cersei) is the one definitive, life-changing event we know will happen on Game of Thrones.

The battle lines have been drawn and it's only reasonable that we pay close attention to who wins the game — whether or not a promised prince is really coming in to save the day.
