Nick Viall Learned A Hard Lesson On 'DWTS'

As Dancing With the Stars enters its second week of competition, it's time for the contestants to really buckle down and dance it out. Gone are the weeks of prep for the first dance, and here is the seven-day timeline for learning a new routine. Focus is key. One star who got a much needed reminder to change it up was former Bachelor Nick Viall, who got yelled at by DWTS judge Len Goodman. The judge wasn't impressed with his and Peta's foxtrot.

"This was far too hectic! There was madness on the floor, there was no control," Goodman said, which was followed by loud booing from the audience. The judge's distaste for the dance was also evident when it came time for the judges to deliver their scores. Goodman gave Nick a 5, making his overall score a 25 out of 40.

All four judges agreed that Nick's posture was too stiff and he wasn't breathing enough to pull off a proper foxtrot. It was also brought to Nick and Peta's attention that the routine was too complicated for a beginner and didn't translate to a foxtrot. But, Goodman offered Nick some valuable, straightforward advice if he comes back next week. "Calm down, nail the routine, make it a little less difficult, and just come out and dance."

Sounds easy enough, right?

I sympathize with Nick. Ballroom dancing cannot be easy, especially when you're doing it on national television and being judged by professional ballroom dancers. Not to mention, he did admit to feeling the pressure of not being able to nail the dance in his rehearsal video beforehand. So, I understand his nerves and anxiety going into the performance. But, from what I've seen of Nick and Peta's rehearsals, maybe it's time for him to get serious about learning his routine. His lighthearted attitude is fun to watch, but if he wants to be a serious contender for the mirror ball trophy, he's got to be all in.
