Lena Dunham's New Tattoo Is Inspired By Rihanna

They say imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery — perhaps even moreso when it involves permanent body art. Lena Dunham unveiled her new chest tattoo on Instagram Thursday, revealing that she was inspired by the one and only RiRi. And in true Lena fashion, it comes all packaged in a topless selfie.

Yes, you read right: chest tattoo — or as Dunham calls it, her "tit chandelier".

"Thank you @trinegrimm for my warrior’s chest plate/tit chandelier. This is my first original piece by a female tattoo artist and it felt sacred and cool and she didn’t chide me for copying @badgalriri’s placement," the actress and writer captions on Instagram.

Dunham confessed that her underboob tattoo placement was inspired by Rihanna herself. In 2012, the Work singer got an underboob tattoo in honor of her late grandmother. RiRi paid tribute with a tattoo of the Egyptian goddess Isis inked between her breasts.

While Dunham opted for a black chandelier design — origins unknown — there has been no comment from Rihanna's front yet. With almost 90k Instagram likes and 2k comments and counting, Dunham's fresh ink is no doubt making waves in the social media circuit. This imitation game is clearly no coincidence.

Norwegian tattoo artist Trine Grimm is responsible for Dunham's chest ink. Dunham coins Grimm a "metal queen" in her Instagram caption, going on to write "let her handle your body".

According to Refinery29, Emmy winner Orange Is The New Black star Uzo Aduba shared her thoughts on Dunham's new tat. "In.To IT!!" the actress commented on Dunham's Instagram selfie. Crazy Eyes-approved.

Only time will tell whether or not Rihanna will dish her opinion on the copycat ink. Will it be flattery, indifference, or just silence? Take your guesses now. And in the mean time, I'll just be referring to underboob tattoos as "warrior's chest plates" from now on.
