The Trailer For The Corey Haim & Feldman Biopic Gives Fans A Dark Look At Their ’80s Fame

by Ashley Rey

The Corey Feldman and Corey Haim biopic is on the way, and based on the looks of Lifetime's A Tale of Two Coreys trailer, the movie may answer some longstanding questions about the actor's fall from Hollywood. The first promo, which was released via People on Thursday, Dec. 7, features the ins and outs of the teen heartthrob's friendship with one another — from how the two first met, to attending some of Hollywood's most premiere events.

The most triggering portion of the trailer, by far, is the reenactment of Haim's alleged sexual assault. In his 2013 memoir, entitled Coreyography, Feldman detailed both his and Haim's alleged experiences with being sexually assaulted by high-profile celebrities and industry heads. And seeing as the former child star has been vocal all over social media about these unfortunate allegations, including this storyline within the biopic was to be expected. However, with conversations surrounding sexual assault in the entertainment industry picking up momentum as time goes on, hearing Haim, portrayed by Justin Ellings, recount the event in the trailer feels horrifyingly fresh.

People also reported that actors Elijah Marcano and Scott Bosely will portray Feldman, and Ellings, as previously mentioned and Casey Leach will portray Haim throughout the biopic, executively produced by Feldman — which is scheduled to air on Jan. 6.

A Tale of Two Coreys is certainly a long time coming, but according to Feldman's recent "Truth Campaign," he's just getting started. Within a seven-minute video shared to YouTube on Oct. 25, the actor and biopic's executive producer spoke of wanting to take down an alleged "pedophile ring" in Hollywood that he's been aware of since his childhood. Feldman launched an IndieGogo campaign to raise $10 million to fund a "major motion picture" about his life — which would potentially uncover a lot of the sexual assault Feldman alleges happened to him throughout his career.

Haim's mother, Judy Haim, responded to Feldman's fundraising attempt, calling it a "long con" in a Oct. 28 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Judy says that while she's convinced that her late-son was molested once by one man in the industry, Feldman's claims that Haim was sexually assaulted repeatedly are false. She claimed in the interview,

"He’s been talking about revealing the names of his and other abusers for seven years, since my son died. Now he wants $10 million to do it? Come on. It’s a long con. He’s a scam artist. If he was serious about this, he’d share the information he has with the police.”

Since the "Truth Campaign's release in October, the Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation into Feldman's Hollywood pedophile ring claims, according to USA Today. So the actual "truth" is bound to come out, sooner than later.

Haim and Feldman met early on in their career, and costarred in multiple films together — including 1987'S The Lost Boys, which helped to catapult them to superstardom. The Lifetime biopic also appears to highlight other Hollywood challenges that both Feldman and Haim faced together, including a look into household violence and substance abuse issues.

Haim died in 2010, reportedly from pneumonia, so unfortunately, his recounts of the events in discussion can't be accurately depicted. But knowing that Feldman had a heavy hand in the film's development should help a lot of fans rest easy knowing that, at least, his side of their truth will be shared. The pair were exceptionally close throughout their careers, and in an open letter to his late-friend after Haim's tragic death, Feldman let fans into just how much the two meant to each other — even seeing each other through their struggles with sobriety. Feldman wrote,

"My mission in life became saving yours. I never gave up, I tried. I walked away, but I always came back, to let you know I was there. In a dark and lonely world with spiteful angry people we always understood each other's pain."

While fans won't be getting every question surrounding Haim and Feldman's lives answered, the trailer hints that gaining some insider information about the dynamic duo is still a possibility.
