Police Need Help Identifying This London Jogger Who Shoved A Woman Into Traffic

On Tuesday, British police released video footage of what appears to be a jogger pushing a woman into an oncoming London bus from May. According to CNN, the victim is a 33-year-old woman who sustained minor injuries. The police are now asking for the public's help in identifying the unknown runner.

The unidentified man appeared to be running across southwest London's Putney bridge, passing one person before reaching a woman walking in the opposite direction, toward a nearby subway station. In the video, it looks like he pushed her into the street, where a bus swerved to narrowly miss hitting her. The bus then stopped and passengers rushed to help the victim.

Police are urging anyone who may know the runner to come forward. Police released a described that stated he is a white man in mid-30s with brown eyes and short brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a gray T-shirt and dark blue shorts.

The Washington Post reported that although the incident occurred on May 5, the police released the footage Tuesday in an effort to identify the runner. About 15 minutes after the incident, the runner reportedly returned to the area, and the woman tried speaking to him. However, her refused to communicate and continued running.

While women constantly face threats as they move throughout the world each day, the manner in which the man appeared to nonchalantly push her over and into oncoming traffic had people's attention as the video made the rounds on Tuesday. It's interesting to note that the runner ignored the first man who passed him in the video. And then after he appeared to push the woman, he passed her once again minutes later without talking to her, which makes it all the more compelling.

Putney Safer Neighborhood Team investigating officer Sgt. Mat Knowles released a statement saying, "The victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road. It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle." Knowles went on, “We are keen to speak with the jogger in the CCTV about what happened that morning. We would urge him or anyone who recognizes him to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

However, a spokesperson was unable to give further information on the progress of the investigation, according to The Washington Post. Police are urging people with any information related to the event to call Putney Safer Neighborhood Team at 020-8785-8874.
