Lucy Hale Reveals Some 'PLL' Fan Theories Are True

One of the things I'm most looking forward to in 2017 is the return of Pretty Little Liars. However, I'm not totally prepared for the fact that the series is coming to an end, and there are only 10 episodes left. While Season 7B is sure to answer a lot of questions and bring closure to several story lines, it's hard to imagine the show resolving every mystery there is. In an interview with Teen Vogue, Lucy Hale discussed Aria's role in the final episodes and gave several hints as to what fans can expect from the show's last season. Notably, Hale also revealed that there are some fan theories that correctly guessed A.D.'s identity. But which theories could she possibly mean?

First off, Hale told Teen Vogue,

"I have seen a couple of fan theories where they got it pretty dead-on. I have no idea [how]. They just went back and re-watched episodes and figured it out. Then you get the theories that are totally wrong; they totally could make sense, but aren't right at all."

It's incredible to hear that some Pretty Little Liars fan theories regarding A.D. are right, and this should have viewers even more excited about the finale. So, based on Hale's comments, which fan theories seem most likely to be true? Let's investigate.

Aria Is A.D.

One longstanding fan theory revolves around Aria being A.D. Before it was revealed that Mary Drake is Spencer's mother, fans believed that A.D. stood for Aria Drake. However, Hale told Teen Vogue,

"The last few episodes for Aria were my favorites of the whole series because she becomes a little dark. She loses it a little bit, and we get to see a different side of her, which I've been waiting to do that for the whole series."

Could this mean that Aria is A.D. after all?

Wren Is A.D.

Thanks to his brief appearance in the Season 7B trailer, fans know that Wren Kingston returns to Rosewood in the final episodes of Pretty Little Liars. Wren has long been considered a suspect, a rumor that only grew thanks to Dr. Rollins' British accent, leading fans to question whether the pair were related. As one of the most popular theories, it's definitely possible, though Hale told Teen Vogue that there are plenty of "theories that are totally wrong; they totally could make sense, but aren't right at all." Perhaps this is one of those?

Mona & Caleb Are Working Together

Mona and Caleb were too close for comfort in Season 7A, and the fact that the pair seems to know how the other takes their coffee really freaks me out. While Caleb has never been a suspect, maybe he should become one, especially as Hale told Teen Vogue, "It kind of comes out of left field too. You see what's going on, and it makes a lot of sense."

Spencer Is A.D.

A popular theory that's been well-documented by PLL super fans is that Spencer Hastings is Uber A. It's particularly enlightening that in her interview with Teen Vogue, Hale said of correct fan theories, "They just went back and re-watched episodes and figured it out." This would totally fit with the theory that Spencer is A.D., which one Tumblr user detailed in extensive detail.

The Ezria Wedding Is Happening, Which Surely Means Neither Of Them Is A.D.

Hale told Teen Vogue,

"It's so funny seeing all the comments on our Instagram pictures. [The fans] see wedding rings, and they see wedding veils. They piece it together. They're very smart."

Clearly, we all guessed correctly that Hale was wearing a wedding dress and veil, to presumably marry Ezra. So, if the Ezria wedding is on, and seemingly confirmed by Hale, doesn't that mean that neither of them is the villain?

Whichever fan theories turn out to be right, it's exciting to know that the cast of Pretty Little Liars cares about their fans, and they're extremely excited for viewers to see the finale. As Hale said, the big reveal will be, "satisfying. Everybody has been waiting for it." Thank goodness we'll all finally know the truth.
