Melissa McCarthy Is Hilarious As 'SNL's Easter Bunny Sean Spicer

Will Heath/NBC

Melissa McCarthy's fan-favorite impression of Sean Spicer, the White House Press Secretary, returned to Saturday Night Live on April 15, but with a hilarious twist. Melissa McCarthy's Sean Spicer on SNL donned an Easter bunny costume while tackling the real-life Spicer's recent comments about German dictator Adoph Hitler. Earlier this week, the White House spokesman had made comments about Hitler's use of chemical weapons during World War II and received criticism for the false nature of his remarks.

“We didn’t use chemical weapons in World War II,” the real-life Spicer said, according to the New York Times. “You know, you had someone as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons.” Many media outlets and people noted that his comments ignored Hitler's use of gas chambers during the Holocaust. Later in the week, Spicer apologized for his comments on CNN, saying "Frankly, I mistakenly made an inappropriate and insensitive reference to the Holocaust, for which there is no comparison." And naturally, McCarthy's incredible Spicer impression would tackle these comments on SNL. Her Spicer entered the sketch as the Easter Bunny, a reference to how Spicer used to dress up as the White House Easter Bunny during George W. Bush's presidency.

In the SNL sketch, McCarthy's Spicer enters by wishing everyone a happy Easter and saying, "Shut up, so I can apologize...Yeah, you all got your wish this week. Spicy finally made a mistake." Her Spicer goes on to hilariously explain her real-life counterpart's error. "It would be great if the nit pickers didn’t focus on every slur and lie I say. That would be nice. And P.S., you know I am sensitive to the fact that they were sent there on trains, but at least they didn’t have to fly United, am I right?” Ouch. McCarthy's Spicer also used stuffed animals to tell a version of the story of Passover.
