Natalie Portman has been killing the red carpet for what feels like forever, or at least since she made her first red carpet appearance in 1994 for Léon: The Professional. But unfortunately, we won't be seeing her red carpet style Sunday evening, since Natalie Portman will not attend the 2017 Oscars as a result of her pregnancy.

In an interview with People Magazine, Portman said that she would not be able to attend the Oscars or the Independent Spirit Awards because of her pregnancy — the actor is quickly approaching her due date and has opted to watch the awards shows from home.

Portman is nominated for her stellar (like, seriously mind blowing) performance in Jackie, a biopic about Jacqueline Kennedy in the days immediately following John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. She is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, and honestly in my opinion, she is the clear choice.

Earlier in awards season, Portman channeled Jackie Kennedy with a very retro yellow Prada dress and vintage jewels from 1910, so it's a little bit of a bummer that we won't get to see her fabulous maternity style on the Oscars red carpet this season. However, I'm sure she'll have many more opportunities in the future to impress us with her red carpet style.

Portman is pregnant with her second child and is due in the very near future, although she hasn't revealed her official due date.
