Nick's Ring For Vanessa Is A Bit Familiar

As of Monday night's Bachelor finale, it would seem that Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi are now living happily ever after (and in public)! No matter how you feel about Nick's choice, you have to admit that her new Neil Lane ring is pretty gorgeous... but apparently, it's also familiar to the franchise. It would seem that the ring Nick gave Vanessa is the same one Robby Hayes chose for JoJo Fletcher on The Bachelorette. And although my first reaction this news was not good, honestly, does it even really matter?

Popular blogger Claudia Oshry from Girl With No Job was the first to point out the coincidence when she posted a side by side image of both rings on Twitter. Later, People confirmed the discovery, which means it's true: Vanessa's 3.75 carat ring (which happens to contain 164 other diamonds, because who can have just one?) is the exact one that Robby would have given JoJo if she had decided to marry him instead of Jordan Rodgers.

Bachelor ring designer Lane commented on the situation to the magazine, and if you're freaking out about Nick giving Vanessa a ring that was originally meant for someone else, his words might help you realize how much of a nonissue this is.

Here's what he told People:

"I bring six rings and over the years, over the 9 years, some are the same, some have changed settings or are re-designed, and some are totally new. The most important thing is for a ring to speak to the particular man and to the woman he is in love with. If a ring doesn’t speak to one person, then it wasn’t meant to be. If that particular ring wasn’t meant to find a home with JoJo, but rather spoke to Nick and Vanessa, then that’s the way it should be. It’s found its home."

The man is right, everyone. If Nick saw that ring and immediately thought "Vanessa," then that's all that matters — and honestly, she seems to really love it. What would be more ridiculous is if Nick saw the ring, thought it would be perfect for her, but didn't choose it because it was the same one Robby chose.

Besides, nothing, especially not something as "nothing" as this, should take away from their excitement during this happy time. When I first got engaged, I would show my ring to anyone who would even pretend to care. I would hate for this to be what Vanessa hears when she shows off that sparkler, because regardless of how unconventional their relationship has been, she deserves to celebrate.

A situation like this is only as awkward as you make it, and if you ask me, it's not awkward at all. Flash that ring, girl. You're not engaged forever!
