Nicki Minaj Skipped The 2017 BET Awards Red Carpet

Nicki Minaj lives and breathes fashion, so it would only make sense that her BET look would be a show stopper. But Minaj skipped the 2017 BET Awards this year, even though she was nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, a title that she has won every year since 2010. However, it's not too shocking that she didn't walk the red carpet this year, as she hasn't been in attendance to the awards show since 2015, when she performed on stage.

Many already thought that she would skip attendance as well, thanks to an Instagram post she shared a couple of days ago. In its caption she announced she was going to be performing alongside with Drake at the NBA Awards show that airs June 26, the day after the BET Awards. While that might seem like a normal enough announcement, in the caption she stressed that would be the only awards performance she would be doing that week, putting the word "only" in all caps. "My darlings, this is the ONLY award show I'll be attending this month. Set your DVR's. You won't want to miss this PERFORMANCE 🎀" she wrote.

This led many people to speculate that her chair would once again be empty at the BET Awards, which, of course, it was.

So what did Minaj do instead of joining the awards festivities? Well, it looked like she had a lot to celebrate from home. In an Instagram post shared a day prior to the BET ceremony, Minaj revealed that she is officially the most awarded female rapper in history, and has just cinched the title for most Hot 100 entries by any woman in the history of music — a title previously held by Aretha Franklin for 40 years.

So while she might not be at an awards ceremony, she's still raking in those titles and trophies. But even though we didn't see her grace the red carpet, it's still fun to imagine what her look would have been like. To give you an idea of past outfits, here is what Minaj looked at the 2015 BET Awards, which was surprisingly minimalist when compared to her usual style:

But never one to keep it predictable, here is her style at the 2017 Met Gala, wearing a leotard with a mile long train:

Hopefully she decides to go to the BET awards next year, so we can be treated to more of her exciting looks.
