Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson appears to have forgotten one major moment in his life: his 1995 murder trial. At his parole hearing on Thursday, Simpson claimed "nobody has ever accused me of pulling any weapon on them" as he attempted to explain the circumstances surrounding the 2007 robbery for which he was convicted and sentenced to nine to 33 years in prison.

"In any event, I am no danger to pull a gun on anybody," Simpson told the Nevada parole board about the robbery in which he took sports memorabilia he said belonged to him from two dealers in a Las Vegas hotel. "I never have in my life. I've never been accused of it in my life. Nobody has ever accused me of pulling any weapon on them... I never have."

In 1994, however, Simpson was accused of stabbing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman to death. Although a jury ultimately found Simpson not guilty on both murder charges (and, as Simpson noted, he wasn't accused by Brown or Goldman directly but rather by the state of California on their behalf), many on social media noted how audacious and absentminded his comment seemed.

Some Seemed Downright Shocked

Some social media users were shocked that Simpson would make such a claim given the widespread media coverage of his 1995 murder trial.

Some Admitted To Being Momentarily Confused

Others on social media expressed some confusion over how Simpson appeared to remember the events of his life.

Others Were Simply Unimpressed

Others appeared simply unimpressed with Simpson's apparent forgetfulness.

Does He Believe That?

One social media user wondered if Simpson really believed he'd never been accused of pulling a weapon on someone.

Could He Be That Forgetful?

Others wondered if Simpson had blocked out the 252 days that he stood trial on two murder charges in 1995.

Or Is It A Bald-Faced Lie?

Some felt Simpson's comment was a lie no matter how you looked at it.

"Oh, Come On!"

Either way, many social media users expressed disbelief that Simpson would make such a bold comment given his history in both the press and the court room.

Where Was Simpson's Lawyer?

Some on social media couldn't help but question why Simpson's lawyer had allowed him to make such a brazen claim before the parole board.

Who Could Forget 'The Naked Gun'?

Simpson's comment also unleashed a torrent of The Naked Gun memes. For those who may not remember, Simpson played Police Officer Nordberg in the slapstick comedy trilogy.

Interestingly, Simpson's claim about having never been accused of pulling a weapon on anyone wasn't the only seemingly bizarre statement the former NFL player made during his parole hearing Thursday. Simpson also claimed he'd lived "a conflict-free life" and was "not a guy who lived a criminal life" despite past allegations of spousal abuse, his infamous slow-speed police chase, and what has long been called "the trial of century."
