Olivia & Fitz Try To Take Down Peus On 'Scandal'

I should have known that even once Scandal filled us in on who the president elect is, it still wouldn't be easy, but I never thought it could get this crazy. On last Thursday's episode, the electoral college ended up choosing Mellie Grant as president... but then, she quickly learned that she'd be forced to live as the mystery woman's puppet, a job that could come with some scary consequences. So on Thursday's Scandal, Olivia and Fitz attempted to take Mellie back from the scary organization, but it's not going to be easy.

As if it wasn't bad enough that Mellie's new Chief of Staff is a woman who killed Elizabeth North with a golf club, but Olivia was also brought some surprising news: Peus required that Mellie have Jake step down as her vice president so he can take the job. Obviously, that puts Mellie's life into even further danger, so desperate measures have to be taken.

The solution? Fitz puts the entire White House on lockdown, secures his children with the secret service, and locks himself, Olivia, Mellie, Cyrus, David, Jake, and even Papa Pope in the same room to figure out what their next move is going to be. One problem: Papa Pope doesn't think it can be done.

The good news? He's wrong. Because the drone scare had to end eventually, but thanks to a pep talk from Marcus, Mellie decided she wanted to be a strong president who earned the office she doesn't feel like she deserves. And even though the mystery woman got very frustrated in lockdown, that's just the beginning. When it's time for her to be freed, Olivia announces that she's actually going to be imprisoned instead... and by the way, Liv's taking over as Chief of Staff.

Of course, it's not like the battle's been won; this mystery woman isn't the only person involved, and there are a lot more people they'll need to take down. But I'm looking forward to seeing how Olivia handles this, especially in an official capacity working in the White House, where she's always belonged.
