'PLL' Will Feature A Musical Number

Freeform

Pretty Little Liars returns to Freeform for Season 7B on April 18, 2017, and fans are understandably excited. But, even cooler, one of the new episodes of Pretty Little Liars will feature a musical number, which actually makes so much sense. With only 10 episodes to go before the series is over for good, there are so many mysteries left to solve and a plethora of secrets that need revealing. The cast and crew are every bit as invested in the secrets of Rosewood as the fans are, and at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, the audience were given some insights into what to expect from the finale. A musical episode not only makes sense, but is long overdue.

The announcement that there will be a musical performance in Pretty Little Liars Season 7B might come as a shock to fans, but perhaps it shouldn't. After all, several of the cast have already embarked on singing careers. One of the show's executive producers, Oliver Goldstick, said of the musical number,

All of them have incredible hidden talents and singing happens to be one of them. And I thought it was a shame that we didn’t utilize that, and we found a way to platform it in one of the episodes in the last 10.

It sounds as though viewers have a lot to look forward to when the show returns in April. So which of the Liars have musical backgrounds?

1. Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery)

In 2011, Hale appeared in Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song, in which she got to showcase her vocal talents. This was followed in 2012, with the talented performer signing a deal with Hollywood Records. Hale released her country album, Road Between, in 2014.

2. Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis)

Sasha Pieterse is also a country singer, and released several singles in 2013.

3. Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields)

In 2016, Mitchell famously starred in the video for Nick Jonas's "Under You". She's yet to release any music of her own, but perhaps the Pretty Little Liars musical number will mark her first official performance?

4. Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin)

Benson may not have recorded an album of her own, but there are several video clips of the performer singing, and her voice sounds incredible. The world is ready for an Ash Benzo album.

4. Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings)

Bellisario may not perform often, but, as this video from the Keep A Secret Convention in Paris in 2013 proves, she has an incredible voice.

5. Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal)

Parrish is accustomed to performing and will appear in the forthcoming musical adaptation of A Walk To Remember. Signed to Geffen Records, Parrish has had her music featured on several soundtracks and even performed a cover version of the Sara Bareilles track "Gravity" on Pretty Little Liars.

6. Keegan Allen (Toby Cavanaugh)

Allen often performs his own compositions live, and it surely won't be long before we hear a full length album from the actor.

7. Tammin Sursok (Jenna Marshall)

Tammin Sursok, who plays Jenna Marshall on Pretty Little Liars, released an album called Whatever Will Be back in 2005.

8. Tyler Blackburn (Caleb Rivers)

Hanna Marin's bae has a pretty amazing voice.

9. Ian Harding (Ezra Fitz)

Ian Harding sings for fun, but it's clear that he has a beautiful voice underneath the joking. Being serenaded by Ezra would slay me.

The cast of Pretty Little Liars have amazing voices, and it's exciting to find out that they'll be performing a musical number in Season 7B of the show.
