In lieu of their typical royal duties (making speeches, shaking hands, meeting babies, etc.), Prince William and Prince Harry attended the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere in London on Tuesday night. Donning dapper tuxedos for their stately stroll down the red carpet, the princes — who both nabbed cameos as Stormtroopers in the latest Star Wars installment — traded diplomatic meetings for world-famous droids at the star-studded big screen outing.

Back in April 2016, Prince William and Prince Harry got shown around the Pinewood Studios set of The Last Jedi, where they battled with lightsabers and rubbed elbows with Wookiee warriors. According to Kensington Palace, the visit — during which they also posed for pictures and chatted with the cast and crew — was meant to "recognise the wealth of British creative talent involved in the production of the Star Wars films." This definitely checked out, according to the BBC: In addition to having tons of Brits behind the cameras, both John Boyega and Daisy Ridley (who star as Finn and Rey, respectively) hail from the U.K., plus, all seven previous Star Wars films featured scenes shot at various British studios.

However, almost immediately after the pictures of their visit hit the web, rumors started swirling that the princes had secretly filmed cameos for The Last Jedi during their on-set tour. When asked by the BBC earlier this year about William and Harry's rumored cameos, Boyega replied "no comment."

A few months later, during a taping of The Hollywood Reporter's Actor Roundtable, though, sources said that Boyega was recorded confirming the rumors, but that audio wasn't immediately released. Finally, last month, the rumors proved true. On the recently released THR Roundtable recording, Boyega opened up about what it was like to work with Prince William and Prince Harry on-set:

“It wasn’t intimidating, it was fun. I thought, like, ‘Of course, it’s Star Wars, they’re going to bring the royal family.’ It felt fun. They were in Stormtrooper costumes.”

Boyega again confirmed their appearance in an interview with BBC Radio 4. "I've had enough with those secrets," he said. "They came on set. They were there. I'm sick of hiding it. It think it was leaked, anyway."

During an interview in November with Good Morning America, Ridley finally discussed her experience filming with the Princes, as well.

"They’re really, really nice," she said. "Also really tall, which was the most surprising thing. Really tall yeah. They were lovely."

Of course, the London premiere of The Last Jedi wasn't all about Prince William and Prince Harry storm-trooping the red carpet. According to People, the event, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall, was attended by 400 hand-picked guests — youths, veterans, and volunteers — the majority of whom had some involvement with charities and causes supported by the Royal Foundation (including Full Effect, Coach Core, and the Endeavour Fund), which is headed by William, Harry, and Kate Middleton.

Kensington Palace continued to show support for both the princes and the film on Tuesday night, as they shared several tweets throughout the premiere, many of which included candid photos and videos of William and Harry walking the red carpet and speaking to the one-and-only Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

And in case you thought the whole night couldn't get any better for the royal attendees, Kensington Palace also revealed via Twitter that both William and Harry were presented with an extra special gift: their very own Stormtrooper helmets! (As if getting a cameo in the film wasn't already the best gift ever.)
