Looks like Prince Charles’ eldest son and I have more in common than I realized. As UK radio station Heart 96-107 reported on Friday, Prince William wants to know if that Spice Girls reunion is happening. When the Duke of Cambridge shook hands with Baby Spice at the opening ceremony of The Global Academy in Hayes last Thursday, he made sure to ask her The Question: What the heck is up with that dang anniversary performance? Er, actually, he put it a lot more eloquently. After thanking Emma Bunton for being part of The Global Academy event, Prince William asked, “Are we hearing about a reunion coming soon?”

Whoa. Who knew he was following all of the zig-ah-zig-ah-rific gossip like the rest of us? Royals: They’re Spice Girls-obsessed just like us.

In July 2016, a report popped up that the Spice Girls apparently planned to play a concert at Hyde Park the following year. Well, some of the Spice Girls: Bunton, Melanie Brown, and Geri Horner are all into doing a reunion show (or are they?), whereas Melanie Chisholm and Victoria Beckham made it clear that they’ve moved on once and for all (or have they?). Fast-forward to April 2017: Page Six reported that GEM’s reunion show may be back on. Every time a new reunion tidbit surfaces, my head spins like a wheel on the Spice Bus.

Prince William, hero that he is, gallantly tried to get to the bottom of all of it. So, what did Baby Spice tell the Duke of Cambridge? When His Royal Highness inquired about the Spice Girls reunion rumors, Bunton laughed, “Only if you come and see us.”

Oh, my goodness.

OK, Prince William. Sounds like the ball is in your court. I know you and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are quite busy, but I hope you would be ready to drop whatever for a Spice Girls reunion. Sure, Bunton’s response probably was nothing more than a tongue-in-cheek comment, but what if it wasn’t? What if “no Prince William, no Spice Girls reunion” has been the group's secret motto ever since rumblings of the anniversary extravaganza reached fever pitch last summer? What if the fate of the Spice Girls reunion is in Prince William’s hands? We can’t be too careful. Not when a possible Spice Girls event is involved.

Please say you will be there, Your Highness.
