Released back in January 2001, Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera's "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" is basically a cult classic. The song seemed underappreciated at the time of its release (it peaked at number 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts, and I'll never understand why it didn't reach number one), but has lived on as one of the most iconic duets of the early 2000s. It was an era where Martin was shaking his bon-bon in full force, and Aguilera was taking both strong vocals and big hair to new heights in the "Lady Marmalade" music video. Oh, 2001 — such an interesting year to reminisce about. Now 16 years later, Martin and Aguilera have reunited to perform the beloved duet as part of his new residency in Las Vegas.

Technically, the pair didn't reunite in person per se, but Aguilera recorded a new video that Martin sings along with during his All In show at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. According to People, Matin kicked off his residency on Wednesday, April 5, and fans were delightfully surprised when he and a virtual Aguilera performed "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely." Pay attention to how the crowd reacts when Aguilera first appears on screen around the 1:30 mark in the video below.

Fortunately, because of smartphones and relaxed rules at concert venues, videos of the epic moment from Martin's show have made their way online. And I, for one, am glad they have, because this is the nostalgic performance that we all absolutely need in our lives right now.

First of all, thank you modern technology for making this happen. Second of all, is it just me or does Martin totally kill it? Like, obviously Aguilera sounds and looks great, but her part of the performance is a pre-recorded video, so I almost expect it to be good. Martin, on the other hand, definitely seems at the top of his game, and he straight up delivers during the show.

I don't currently have tickets to see All In, but now that I know the show includes his duet with Aguilera, I may just have to find a way sneak down to Las Vegas for a nostalgic weekend.
