When the 2017 Golden Globes announced the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series or Limited Series, I was excited to see actor Sterling K. Brown accept another trophy for his stellar performance as Christopher Darden in The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. But alas, that didn't happen, since Sterling K. Brown was snubbed at the 2017 Golden Globes and the statue went to Hugh Laurie for The Night Manager. Brown, who currently stars in the NBC drama This Is Us, was the front-runner for the award, since he won the Emmy for his FX series role last year.
Earlier in the night, Brown walked the red carpet with his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe (who also stars on This is Us), and friend Brian Tyree Henry, who stars on the series Atlanta — which took home the trophy for Best Comedy Series. Brown told E!'s Ryan Seacrest in a red carpet interview that he didn't have high expectations for taking home the award, but was honored to be there. "Speaking for myself, I'm just enjoying myself," Brown said. "It's good times." When asked, Brown wouldn't say if he prepared a speech or not, but Bathe answered, "My husband is prepared for every eventuality."
So even though Brown did not win, it sounds like he has a fun night ahead of him. During the red carpet interview, he told Seacrest that he will be splitting his time between the This is Us table and The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story table.
So while this snub for Brown was disappointing, fans can take comfort in the fact that the actor is turning in amazing performances on This is Us every week — and there could be more opportunities for awards in his future.
