Literally Just A Bunch Of Pics Of Hot Firefighters Snuggling With Small Animals

by Eliza Castile

Between the rigorous workout regimen and the daily heroics, firefighting is the sexiest profession out there. You know this. I know this. Firefighters themselves know this. Why else would they pose for the Australian Firefighters Calendar each year? You can't tell me they aren't aware that their rippling abs and turnout coats will make pretty much anyone reach for their wallet. The good news is that any money spent on the calendar goes toward an amazing cause: benefiting the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Westmead Children’s Hospital Burns unit, and this year, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.

"Vital funds donated by the Australian Firefighters Calendar have helped the Burns units across Australia to purchase much-needed medical equipment, expand their teams and conduct important research and clinical trials that help to develop more effective and less painful treatments for children with burns," explains the calendar's Facebook page.

That’s right — you can feel good about buying a calendar full of hot Australian men in various states of undress. After all, it’s for the children.

The Australian Firefighter Calendar has been published every year since 1993. According to the website, it has raised more than $2 million in the last 25 years, and that number will undoubtedly skyrocket once again with the release of the 2018 edition. This year, all you ever-so-charitable buyers can choose from not one, not two, but three versions of the calendar from the Land Down Under.

First, there's the traditional Hot Firefighters calendar, featuring all the scantily clad, stubbly hunks you could want. Caution: the following content may be hot.

If that's not enough, you thirsty maniac, there's also an Animal Calendar, which is exactly what it sounds like. Its pages depict 12 different men posing with zoo animals native to Australia, the mere sight of which is guaranteed to start a fire in your pants.

Then there is my personal favorite, the "Puppy Calendar." Do I really need to explain the appeal of a bunch of half-naked men cradling baby dogs to their muscular chests? I didn't think so.

By the way, each calendar puppy was rescued from the Safe Haven animal shelter in Queensland. You may pause here to allow your heart to explode.

As if that wasn't enough, each firefighter has a short biography on the calendar's website. The Puppy Calendar's Mr. December, for example, is named Richard. He's a Virgo from New Zealand who worked as an exercise physiologist before becoming a firefighter, and his favorite romantic movie is Love Actually. Clearly, the masterminds behind the Australian Firefighters Calendar know what the people want, and what we want is to know that the ultra-ripped hunks hanging on our bedroom walls have great taste in romantic comedies.

Needless to say, the 2018 calendar's release has been met with a warm welcome.

The firefighter calendar is longstanding tradition. While Australia's may be one of the oldest, firefighters from all around the world gather together each year to let us ogle them for charity. In fact, the Hall of Flame calendar, which features firefighters in the greater Vancouver area, just announced its 2018 edition. Although their pages are generally reserved for men, a growing number of calendars include female first responders as well. This year, the Fire Department of New York offered two versions of their Calendar of Heroes: one with male firefighters, and one with women.

If you're lucky enough to live in the same country as the firefighting Aussies, you can head over to the Australian Firefighters Calendar website to find out where to buy the calendar in person. Otherwise, you'll have to order online. Fortunately, much like the calendar's appeal, shipping is worldwide.
