Bustle's Editors On 'Girls' + The Boston Marathon

by Rachel Simon

Happy Monday, all! This weekend truly flew by — that 80-degree weather certainly didn't help — and now we're in for another long April week. But fear not, because as today proved, there's plenty of news and events to keep you busy for the next five days.

Read on for a recap of everything that got Bustle's editors talking today, Apr. 17.

Girls + That Finale

Sunday night was the series finale of Girls, the HBO show everyone loved (or loved to hate) for six years. The episode wasn't your typical conclusion, with less resolution than many people would expect, but as Bustle's Dana Getz wrote in this piece, here's why Girls couldn't have ended any other way for Hannah.

Royal News: Prince Harry opened up about going to therapy and grieving his mom, breaking a long-held tradition of royals not discussing mental health. Thank you, Harry.

The Boston Marathon + A Badass Woman

How cool is this? Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon back in 1967, is running again 50 years later. The 70-year-old athlete is a champion marathoner, and her entry back in the '60s (along with the unofficial one of Roberta Bingay Gibb a year earlier) helped pave the way for gender equality in sports. Way to go, ladies.

LOL: Melania Trump nudging Donald so he'd remember to raise his hand during the National Anthem is too good, you guys.

Tax Day + What To Know

If you haven't heard, the last day to file your taxes is Apr. 18 — aka tomorrow. Hopefully, you've taken care of everything already, but if not, you might want to know what happens when you file your taxes at the last minute. (Spoiler alert: You're gonna be fine. But don't wait on getting that extension!)

Pro Tip: Here are the best ways to meet someone on your morning commute — yes, it's really possible.

Makeup Applicators + A Risky Experiment

It seems like every day, there's a new viral article about some household product being used as a makeup applicator. So Bustle writer Hatti Rex decided to find the next big thing for herself, testing out everything from a mushroom to a tampon (yes, really). Read the post to find out what actually worked — and what should never be used again.

Shopping Break: From hair mayo to avocado fluid, these are the best Korean hair products available stateside. What are you waiting for?

Book Clubs + Activism

If two of your favorite things are reading and speaking up, you're in luck. These seven book clubs combine reading with activism, whether by providing books to prisoners, hosting networking opportunities for women, or donating to a number of important foundations. What's not to love?

#RelationshipGoals: Nothing will make your heart happier than seeing Barack Obama photograph Michelle while on vacation. Sigh.

Today's WTF Moment: Goat yoga is a thing, and it's exactly what it sounds like.

What to Watch: It's the season finale of Vanderpump Rules, so tune in to Bravo at 8 for a final dose of reality TV drama.
