Bustle's Editors On Gorsuch + MTV

by Rachel Simon

It's almost the weekend! Sure, we still have one more workday to get through before it's time for mid-afternoon naps and bottomless brunch, but breathe easy — we're nearly there, you guys.

But we're not going into the weekend quietly. Thursday hasn't exactly been a light news day, to say the least, thanks to Neil Gorsuch's Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Don Rickles' death (R.I.P.!) and much more. Here's a recap of all the news that had Bustle's editors talking today:

Neil Gorsuch + Going Nuclear

It's was a huge day for the Senate, as a partisan battle waged for and against the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. Early in the day, Democrats filibustered Gorsuch's nomination, and in the afternoon, Republicans voted to use the "nuclear option," which changed long-held Senate rules to say a nominee could be confirmed by a 51-majority vote, which would pave the way for Gorsuch's confirmation. Already, prominent Democrats are voicing their concerns, with New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand calling the Republicans' decision "irresponsible." The vote is expected to happen tomorrow.

Oh, Man: Donald Trump, Jr. is reportedly thinking about running for Governor of New York. Sigh.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards + Some Big Changes

The nominees for the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards are here, and they're an exciting bunch. Now that the show is combining movies and television, works like Moonlight and Transparent are competing with each other, and now that categories are gender-neutral, actors like Taraji P. Henson and Hugh Jackman get to go head-to-head. Click here for the full list of nominees.

Cute Alert: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's daughter, Luna, met the Easter bunny, and it was adorable.

The Resistance + Your Dream School

Students at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard have founded The Resistance School, a free, student-run program that's all about fighting the Trump government's rhetoric and policies, and teaching its members how to effectively take action. Where do I sign up?

Fun Fact: The first pair of leggings hit department stores way back in 1959. Who knew?

Don Rickles + A Huge Legacy

The world lost a legend on Thursday. Iconic comedian Don Rickles died at the age of 90, leaving behind a massive resume of movies, TV shows, and stand-up performances (not to mention a much-loved voice role as Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story movies). R.I.P., Don.
