Bustle's Editors On Trump + Taylor Swift

by Rachel Simon

How's it going, everyone? It's been quite a hectic few days, and the news just keeps on coming. From the "Unite the Right" rally and reactions to the Taylor Swift sexual assault trial (more on both those events below), this week so far has been seriously chaotic.

So without further ado, read on for a recap of everything you need to know about today, Tuesday Aug. 15:

Trump + White Supremacists

Last night, in a continued response to the white supremacy march over the weekend, protesters tore down a Confederate monument in North Carolina, while those in New York took to the streets to protest Trump. Meanwhile, the president himself spent Tuesday morning retweeting a violent meme of a CNN reporter getting hit by a train. Yup, really.

Taylor Swift + Her Trial

Good news for Taylor Swift: On Monday night, the jury in her trial ruled in her favor, finding DJ David Mueller guilty of assault and battery and awarding the singer a symbolic $1. In her statement after the verdict, Swift thanked her lawyers for "fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault," and said that she'd be soon making donations to organizations that help victims defend themselves in court. Bravo, Taylor.

Aww: Mindy Kaling finally confirmed her pregnancy, and she sounds like she's gonna be the coolest mom ever.

The Women's March + Their Next Move

The creators of the Women's March have announced their next big action: The Women's Convention. The gathering will take place in late October in Detroit, and it's meant to bring together women and allies for workshops, forums, strategy planning for the 2018 election and more. Sign us up.

Fun Fact: Turns out you might be just fine if you only work out on the weekends.

Beauty Products + The Trans Community

This is so cool, you guys. Right now, the program is just in LA, but it might eventually be all over the U.S.; already, stars like Jenner and Shay Mitchell have donated. Hell yes.
