Bustle's Editors On Al Franken + 'Game Of Thrones'

by Rachel Simon

Hello, hello! As of today, there are only 18 days until Christmas, you guys. Whether you celebrate or not, that's reason to get excited — we're almost there!

But let's not get too ahead of ourselves. There's a lot of news to process today, so without further ado, let's dig in — here's what got Bustle's editors talking on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Al Franken + Resignation

On Thursday morning, Al Franken announced that he will resign from the Senate. The announcement was expected by many, as seven women have accused Franken of sexual misconduct, the details of which the former Senator has disputed. In his speech, Franken condemned both Trump and Roy Moore for having the presidency and campaigning for the Senate, respectively, despite the allegations of sexual assault against both men.

FYI: Larry Nassar, the former Olympic gymnastics doctor accused of abusing more than 140 young athletes was sentenced to 60 years in prison for child porn. Good riddance.

Game Of Thrones + Season 8

Bad news in the land of Westeros. It looks like Game of Thrones Season 8 won't premiere until 2019, at least according to star Sophie Turner in a new interview. That means next year will be *gasp* entirely Thrones—less. Say it ain't so! Those episodes better bring all the action to make up for the time we fans have to wait for the show to come back to HBO.

LOL: Turns out that back in January, Lorde might've predicted the future. NBD.

J.K. Rowling + Johnny Depp

J.K. Rowling has finally spoken up about the controversy over Johnny Depp still starring in the Fantastic Beasts sequel despite the allegations of domestic abuse against him, and her response has fans pretty upset. "Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies," Rowling wrote in a statement. Suffice to say, many people are deeply frustrated.

Ugh... According to Kate Winslet, highly controversial director Woody Allen is "on some level of women." Yeah... nope.

Pantone + Color Of The Year

It's official: the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is... Ultra Violet! The hue is described by the company as "dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple," and it's a seriously gorgeous color. It's also timely; Pantone Color Institute executive director Lee Eisenman said in an interview that "purple is a complex color. We're in a complex time; this is a complex color." Very fitting.

Vine + A Big Return

It's just rumors as of now, but apparently, Vine might be coming back. In a series of mysterious tweets, Dom Hofmann, the original co-creator of the app, hinted that a new version of Vine could be on its way, calling it "V2." If you were a big fan of the app, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for more news.

OMG: Apparently, eating cheese every day is actually good for you. Huzzah!

Today's WTF Moment: 50 percent of people are more excited to see their dogs than their families over the holidays. I mean, fair.
