Bustle's Editors On Covfefe + Kathy Griffin

by Rachel Simon

We've made it to the very last day of May, everyone — can you believe it? It's absolutely crazy to think that we're about to enter the sixth month of the year, and that so much time has already passed in 2017. But hey, that's what happens when practically every day is filled with huge news and major announcements.

And today was no exception. Read on for a recap of all the topics that had Bustle's editors talking today, Wednesday the 31st:

Kathy Griffin + That Photo

Last night, Kathy Griffin posted a photo of herself holding a decapitated Donald Trump head, and while the comedian defended the controversial image at first, she later issued an apology. Trump, though, is not pleased, tweeting that Griffin "should be ashamed of herself." And this afternoon, CNN fired Griffin from the network's New Year's Eve programming.

Word Of The Day: "Covfefe," which means... who the hell knows? But that hasn't stopped the Internet from making tons of memes with Trump's odd tweet.

President Trump + The Paris Agreement

As funny as the whole "covfefe" debacle is, though, don't let it distract you from the bigger Trump-related news: that the president might pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement, a pact designed to combat climate change by limiting countries' greenhouse gas emissions. If the U.S. pulls out, we'll join Syria and Nicaragua as the only nations in the U.N. not to participate — not to mention seriously impact the efforts to fight global warming.
