This Trend Among ‘Game Of Thrones’ Deaths May Hint At Other Characters’ Fate

No matter how many times you've rewatched episodes, sometimes details slip by even the most loyal fans. For instance, have you ever noticed that the deaths on Game Of Thrones all have something in common? A Redditor named razobak09 sure did, pointing that the way a GoT character is killed is usually an "homage" to how they lived their life. More specifically, they're killed in ways that mimic their "most infamous moments." Often, there's even some poetic justice in how they're taken from this world, especially in cases like Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsay Bolton, who both made everyone else miserable. While this theory explains the connection between deaths of Game Of Thrones characters you love (and love to hate), it also may be a helpful clue in figuring out how the next character in the series may lose his or her life.

While a character's most impactful moments could decide their fate, it's clear there's also a pattern in how their deaths are connected. As razobak09 mentioned, Ned Stark killed a man with his sword Ice, only to be killed by that same sword. Joffrey was the one who ordered Ned's beheading, and he was later killed with a poisonous drink that left him unable to speak. Olenna Tyrell planted the poison in Joffrey's cup, and she was later killed by poison herself.

But, that's not all. "Walder Frey ordered Catelyn Stark's throat cut at the end of the Red Wedding; he had his throat cut by Arya," razobak09 wrote. "Ramsay Bolton was fond of feeding people to his hounds; he was fed to his own hounds."

And that's just a few of the examples in the Reddit list. Clearly, there's a pattern here, and with seven seasons to look back on, it's worth wondering if some of our favorite character's most memorable moments could hint at their own deaths.

Like, for instance, will Sansa end up paying the price for sic-ing Ramsay's dogs on him? Could she lose her life to one of the remaining direwolves in Season 8? After all, a recent theory did tie Sansa's fate to her direwolf Lady, who died early on, which could be a particularly bad sign. The idea that the Starks are forever linked to their direwolves isn't so farfetched, being that Bran's direwolf Summer ends up dying in a cave. As news.com.au points out, later Meera tells Bran that he "died" when he became the three-eyed raven. Where did that transformation happen? Why yes, it was a cave.

Cersei has done a lot of bad things in her day, but the worst might be releasing wildfire in the Citadel, which killed Margaery Tyrell, the High Sparrow, and many, many others. Knowing that and considering the death pattern, it's easy to assume fire will take out Cersei. Perhaps, dragon fire, since she's already made it clear she's going after Daenerys Targaryen.

The most obvious guess, though, would be that Kingslayer Jaime Lannister, who took the life of the Mad King, may be killed by a king himself. Now that he's left Cersei's side, it's possible he could be killed by the Night King in battle. A recent Reddit theory even proposed the idea that Jaime kills the Night King, but also loses his own life. While that all seems rather sad, in this case, Jaime's nickname of Kingslayer would finally be met with appreciation instead of contempt, which certainly feels like poetic justice.

Of course, this is all speculation, but it's clear there are clues throughout the series that make some of these death theories more than just guesses. In fact, if you read the signs, you may actually solve the mystery of how the few remaining GoT characters could lose their lives.
