Meet The Cast Who's Out There Making 'DuckTales'

Disney XD

While you probably still watch Disney's classic films from time to time (OK, or all the time), your days of watching cartoon TV series by the House of Mouse are probably in the past now, unless you have kids of your own. However, Disney's reboot of DuckTales may have you tuning into Disney XD, acting like a kid again. Although the adventures of Huey, Dewey, and Louie and their great-uncle Scrooge McDuck are the heart of the show, the real draw for adults this time around is the voice cast of the DuckTales reboot. By now you've probably heard about some of the amazing celebrities that the revival has brought on board, but with the new DuckTales premiering on Saturday, Aug. 12, you'll want to get acquainted with the absurdly stellar voice cast.

The DuckTales reboot first landed on the radar of many people when the new cast sung the DuckTales theme song from the original animated series to promote the show. The song that kicked off each episode of the series that ran from 1987 to 1990 is just as catchy and charming as '80s kids remembered and the cast of notable names having fun with it helped make it accessible for audiences in the 2010s. And while stunt casting can be annoying when it comes to animated projects, using actors from Saturday Night Live, Community, and Parks And Recreation — plus, one very special Doctor — actually adds to the fun of this television reboot.

Though you probably never knew the names of who voiced Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the original series (it was just one woman, Russi Taylor, doing it all!), you can marvel at all the star power that was drawn to the DuckTales reboot.

The Tenth Doctor — and the best Doctor, in my opinion — plays Donald Duck's uncle (and the great-uncle of the triplets), Scrooge McDuck. If you aren't a Doctor Who fan (get on it!) then you may know the Scottish actor from Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, Broadchurch, or Jessica Jones. Along with bringing his appeal to the curmudgeonly character, Scrooge will have a more adventurous spirit in the revival.

Danny Pudi (Huey)

Danny Pudi most recently appeared in the Vanessa Hudgens-led series Powerless, which was canceled during its first season, but he's best known for his role of Abed Nadir in Community. Yet, he's no stranger to doing voiceover work since he was Brainy Smurf in 2017's Smurfs: The Lost Village. The triplets will have more defined personalities than in the original series, so as eldest brother, red-wearing Huey, Pudi will be the more logical one.

Ben Schwartz (Dewey)

Todd Wawrychuk/Disney XD

Although these two series are drastically different (and Ben Schwartz wasn't even on one of them), Schwartz is beloved by fans of both Parks And Rec and Stranger Things for his role of Jean-Ralphio Saperstein. He also had a major role in House Of Lies and was the main character of another Disney XD series, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. His blue-wearing Dewey is the middle child and demands the most attention, just like Jean-Ralphio.

Bobby Moynihan (Louie)

If you're going to miss Bobby Moynihan on the next season of Saturday Night Live, then you'll be delighted to hear he's playing youngest triplet Louie (aka the one in green). Like the actors playing his brothers, he's also experienced with voiceover work as he played Mel in The Secret Life Of Pets. But even without that, Moynihan has proven his wacky versatility over the years on SNL.

Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck)

His face and name surely aren't as familiar as the four other ducks of the Duck family, but you'll absolutely recognize Tony Anselmo's voice. According to the Walt Disney Family Museum, Anselmo has been the official voice of Donald Duck since the original voice actor, Clarence Nash, died in 1985. Not only has Anselmo been the voice of Donald for over 30 years, but he also got his start as a Disney animator. It's no wonder he was named an official "Disney Legend" by the company in 2009 and is returning to the DuckTales universe.

Kate Micucci (Webbigail "Webby" Vanderquack)

Todd Wawrychuk/Disney XD

As part of the comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates, Kate Micucci knows how to make people laugh through music. Like the triplet actors, she's an experienced voice actor, currently voicing Velma for the Scooby-Doo franchise and she's also known for her onscreen work in TV shows like Raising Hope. With the dynamic Micucci voicing her, don't expect Webbigail to be as passive as she was in the original series.

Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack)

Paula Lobo/Disney XD

Moynihan's SNL costar Beck Bennett joins the DuckTales crew as Scrooge's fearless and crash-prone pilot Launchpad McQuack. Although his work on SNL isn't for kids, he memorably worked with children before for the AT&T "It's Not Complicated" ads. And while Moynihan won't be returning for SNL Season 43, Bennett will be.

Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley)

Todd Wawrychuk/Disney XD

With all his money Scrooge employs more servants than just a pilot and Toks Olagundoye portrays his housekeeper Mrs. Betina Beakley, who's also the grandmother of Webby. She's used to quirky parts since she portrayed Jackie Joyner Kersee, the matriarch of an alien family, in the ABC series The Neighbors. She was also a former Scotland Yard police officer in Season 8 of Castle, so she's familiar with portraying characters who don't take any guff.

Paul F. Tompkins (Gladstone Gander)

Although he's not a series regular, Entertainment Weekly reported that Paul F. Tompkins will be portraying nemesis Gladstone Gander, a very lucky relative of Scrooge and Donald's. The comedian has had a long career, starting back with Mr. Show with Bob and David and his charismatic (and sometimes smarmy) voice had led to plenty of voiceover work like in BoJack Horseman.

Allison Janney (Goldie O'Gilt)

Playing Scrooge's badass love interest is none other than Mom, The West Wing, and Masters Of Sex actor Allison Janney. The seven-time Emmy award winner can surely give Tennant's Scrooge a run for his money (see what I did there??). After all, she has worked for Disney before as Peach in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.

Lin-Manuel Miranda (Gizmoduck)

Since his Broadway smash Hamilton, Disney has embraced Lin-Manuel Miranda with open arms. He contributed songs to Moana and is starring in Mary Poppins Returns. For DuckTales, he'll portray Gizmoduck, who uses a technically-advanced suit to protect Scrooge. But his real identity is nerdy Fenton Crackshell by day.

With this voice cast — and with the new DuckTales embracing a slightly more adult sense of humor — you'll be able to enjoy this reboot, no matter your age.
