"Duet," the March 21 episode of The Flash, is destined to go down in TV history as one of the best musical episodes ever, and you know you are dying to listen to the songs all over again — especially if you're a Glee fan.
In addition to all the superhero goodness, the episode also acted as a mini Glee reunion. Both Gustin and Supergirl's Melissa Benoist appeared in Glee during the show's six-season run, and "The Duet" cleverly cast their fellow Glee alum Darren Criss as the villainous Music Meister. Gustin and Benoist weren't the only castmembers who got in on the singing and dancing fun. The soundtrack also features the vocal stylings of their accomplished musical co-stars John Barrowman, Victor Garber, and, of course, Criss. Each of the seven songs stands beautifully on its own thanks to the talented actors and musicians involved in the crossover episode.
If you don't have time to rewatch the standout episode immediately, then the soundtrack is the next best thing to seeing Barry and Kara tap dancing together. The sound is delightfully old-school, and should give Glee and La La Land fans a serious case of the feels. It truly is like listening to a lost classic musical.
Whether you are in it for the Glee throwback goodness or because you are a DC superfan, the album is well worth owning. If nothing else, you can bask in Barry serenading Iris with an original love song for all eternity now. That alone is totally worth $7.99.
