The 'Master Of None' Season 2 Soundtrack Is Lovely

Barbara Nitke/Netflix

Finally, Netflix's Master of None Season 2 debuted on May 12 with more spot-on commentary and comedy about the millennial experience through the eyes of Aziz Ansari's character Dev. While Season 1's soundtrack was infused with some '90s throwbacks, you'll want to know how to stream the Master of None Season 2 soundtrack in order to enjoy the international and romantic tunes of Dev's adventures in Italy and New York City. On the season release date, the show's music supervisor DJ Zach Cowie tweeted that the official Master of None Season 2 soundtrack will be released on CD, digital platforms, and on vinyl, but did not specify their date of release yet.

"The release features a selection of tunes from the new season (some not available on streaming services!) and we worked hard to make it," Cowie wrote in the tweet. "A killer listen from start to finish."

The second season of the acclaimed comedy series picks up where Season 1 left off: Dev sets off to Italy to learn how to make pasta. Master of None Season 2 provides several homages to classic Italian cinema throughout Dev's time in Italy — and even once he returns to NYC. Naturally, the soundtrack to the second season reflects that with several Italian songs, along with classic tunes to accompany Dev's attempts at online dating, falling in love, and hosting a new food TV show.

Check out some of Season 2's most poignant songs below.

1

"Alla Luce Del Giorno" By Ennio Morricone

The first moments of Season 2 are set to his upbeat Italian tune by the famous composer from Italy, who is famous for supplying the music for such films as The Hateful Eight, Mission To Mars, and Inglorious Basterds. In Italian, the name of the song means "in the light of the day."

2

"Tanti Aguri A Te"

Dev's friends in Moderna sing this Italian version of "Happy Birthday" to him in the Season 2 premiere episode. And as Dev points out, it has the same melody as the English version.

3

"Dolce Vita" By Ryan Paris

This 1983 synth dance tune from the Italian musician has lyrics in English and is an upbeat opening to the second episode.

4

"Okay Okay" By Pino D'Angio

This groovy 1981 dance number accompanies a scene in which Dev and Arnold distract themselves with the Italian countryside in Episode 2.

5

"Only God Can Judge Me" By 2Pac

This classic 1996 rap song opens Episode 3 and sets up its theme of exploring Dev's relationship with his religion.

6

"Nothing But A Good Time" By Poison

The classic rock tune accompanies a scene in which Dev and Navid hang out at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn.

7

"I Must Be In A Good Place Now" By Bobby Charles

This 1970s tune ends Episode 3 on a sweet, peaceful note.

8

"I Need To Love Somebody Tonight" By Sylvester

This funky '70s track closes Episode 4 as Dev continues his quest for love.

9

"I Can't Help It" By John Legend

In Episode 5, Legend serenades a party with a lovely piano cover of this Michael Jackson song, which was released in 1979.

10

"Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" By Soft Cell

The end of Episode 5 has Dev pondering a new attraction in a scene featuring this 1981 synth pop tune.

11

"You're The One" By Little Sister

This funky 1970s track kicks off Episode 6, which weaves together a series of vignettes about various New Yorkers. The episode and its title seem to take inspiration from the film New York, I Love You.

12

"We Like To Party (The Vengabus)" By The Vengaboys

Episode 6 ends on a hilarious and uplifting note that centers around this 1999 song.

13

"A New Career In A New Town" By David Bowie

Dev tries to hide his true feelings about something as this Bowie tune closes out Episode 6.

14

"Guarda Come Dondolo" By Edoardo Vianello

Dev dances to this 1960s Italian song as his attraction grows to someone in Episode 9. The title translates to "Look How I Swing" in English.

15

"Un Anno D'Amore" By Mina

Dev dances with a special someone to this 1960s Italian song in a bittersweet scene in Episode 10. The title translates to "a year of love."

So you can cue up these tunes to keep the spirit of Master of None Season 2 alive, even after you're done marathoning the episodes.

Editor's Note: On Jan. 13, Ansari was accused of sexual misconduct by a woman who went on a date with him. Ansari has since responded to the claims, saying:

"In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.

The next day, I got a text from her saying that although 'it may have seemed okay,' upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said.

I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue."
