You Need The New 'Fantastic Beasts' Book

by Emma Oulton
Warner Bros.

Harry Potter is the gift that just keeps on giving: this year, Potterheads will be treated to a brand new edition of Fantastic Beasts to add to our ever-growing collections. The book, purportedly written by Newt Scamander, is a staple in any witch or wizard's library, and it was originally released to the Muggle world in 2001. But even if you've already got one of the 2001 textbooks on your virtual bookshelf, I guarantee you're going to want to splash out on another copy — because this latest edition is beautiful. It was designed by Olly Moss, who also designed the most recent Harry Potter e-book covers — and boy, did he make this look irresistible. Oh, and proceeds will go to Comic Relief and J.K. Rowling's charity Lumos — so you're pretty much doing a good deed if you buy it.

In March of this year, the new and improved Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook will be released from Pottermore along with beautifully redesigned versions of Quidditch Through the Ages and Beedle the Bard — so you can make sure your whole library is up to Hermione Granger standards.

But wait, it's not just the cover that's changed. The new edition of Fantastic Beasts will also include a foreword from Newt Scamander himself (written by Rowling, of course), new line illustrations throughout, and six brand new beasts. So if you want to get that 'Outstanding' grade in your Care of Magical Creatures N.E.W.T., it's time to clear a little space on your bookshelf!
