A Spice Girls Reunion May FINALLY Be Happening, But There's A Slight Catch

After years of pleading, fans may finally be getting a Spice Girls reunion with all five members. If the rumors are to be believed, though, there will be a major difference from their early work. According to The Sun, Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, doesn't want to sing again. (Bustle reached out to Beckham’s rep for comment, but did not receive an immediate response. )

Update: On Feb. 2, Beckham posted a picture of the Spice Girls reuniting on Instagram, along with the caption, "Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!!! X Exciting x."

Earlier: The U.K. paper reports that the group will reunite, though it's not clear just what the reported reunion will entail. There could be endorsements, a new compilation album featuring their most popular songs, or even a project involving the Spice Girls judging a TV competition, according to The Sun.

If the reunion is actually happening, it would be pretty significant, since Beckham has said in the past that she didn't want to be involved in a Spice Girls reunion. Since the Spice World days, Beckham has made a name for herself as a fashion designer.

During an appearance on This Morning in November 2017, Beckham told Allison Hammond the reunion was "not happening." She said at the time,

"Girl Power will always be out there and is something that we all still believe. What I do now is still all about girl power, but it's empowering women through power. I don't think I'll be slipping into a PVC catsuit anytime soon."

But by The Sun's account, it looks like Beckham may have finally come around. According to The Sun, Beckham had one major stipulation about the reunion — she reportedly didn't want to provide vocals for the Spice Girls again. The paper reports that manager and producer Simon Fuller told Beckham she wouldn't have to sing with the group again.

The Sun also reports that the five women — Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C, and Geri Horner — are holding a "secret meeting" about the potential reunion. If the meeting is indeed happening, it might be the first time that the group has been together since 2012, when they performed together at the London Olympics' closing ceremony.

"This is the pop reunion no one thought would ever happen again," an unnamed source claimed to The Sun. "But after a long period of negotiation, Victoria agreed the time is right to work on new projects this year... It's very exciting, because she has always been adamant she wouldn't go back."

If the ladies do reunite, they'll each reportedly earn £10 million for the mysterious new project, according to The Sun. While The Sun is the first outlet to share the news about the rumored reunion and the details are still up in the air, that hasn't stopped fans from sharing their feelings about the reports — even if they don't know exactly what's going on.

People wondered what the reunion will be like, if The Sun's report about Beckham not wanting to sing is true. (It's a fair question.)

Some fans even went as far as to say they don't want a reunion if Posh isn't singing.

And other fans just aren't buying the rumors.

If the reports are true, the news would come at a fitting time. It's been just over 20 years since Spice World was released — it hit U.K. theaters in December 1997 and U.S. theaters in January 1998. And what better gift is there for nostalgic fans than a reunion? Until the ladies themselves actually address the reports, it's not clear whether or not the reunion is just another rumor.

Whatever the group might have in mind, though, it probably won't be another reunion world tour. Still, the thought of the ladies signing "Wannabe" together one last time is just too good.
