When Will The Voldemort Prequel Actually Happen?

by Kristie Rohwedder

Earlier this week, Tryangle Films released the trailer for their unofficial Voldemort movie, and it looks like it may have paid off in a big way. As Polygon reported, Warner Bros. has given the Kickstarter-funded film a stamp of approval, permitting Tryangle Films to go ahead with production. Y'all, the fan-made Tom Riddle flick may really happen. So, when will Voldemort: Origins of the Heir be out? Well, according to the trailer, it’s “coming soon" for the time being; so it seems as though the release date is the Day-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named.

However, here is what we do know: According to the YouTube video description, filming has begun. Which, obviously. Did you see the teaser for Voldemort: Origins of the Heir? It's a full-blown preview with, like, actual footage. And because filming has begun, that means the release date is closer than, say, if filming hadn't already begun. I mean, obviously.

Regarding getting the go-ahead from Warner Bros., Voldemort: Origins of the Heir director Gianmaria Pezzato told Polygon, "We had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros who contacted us during the period of the crowdfunding campaign. The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a non profit way, obviously.” And now that the light is as green as Voldemort's wand rays, Potterheads are one step closer to seeing the final product.

You can check out the teaser below.

Wait, did I miss something. Is Grisha McLaggen related to Cormac McLaggen? And if so, does that mean he's also an heir to Gryffindor? If that is the case, I wonder if Slughorn knew. Ugh, just thinking about the Slug Club makes me shudder.
