These 'Love Actually' Sequel Pictures Are Too Cute

by Mary Grace Garis

One of the core and perhaps happiest plot lines in Love Actually is the slow blossoming romance between Prime Minister David and Natalie, and no doubt the Love Actually sequel would be feel a little bit less glorious without them. As such, I can't be more delighted about these new behind-the-scenes pictures of Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon on the set of the short, courtesy of Red Nose Day director's Emma Freud. It isn't that I felt uncertain about those crazy kids' future (unlike some of those couples), but there's a definite comfort in seeing what they've been up to since their enthusiastic airport embrace at the end of the 2003 film.

To begin with, David is still the Prime Minister of beautiful, fictional-Britain. The photos show him in the middle of a press conference of sorts, surrounded by a myriad of journalists. Obviously, we have no clue what kind of speech he's actually making, but the statement appears to be televised, and that leaves a big opening to cut to tertiary Love Actually characters watching the broadcast. Whether they take that shot or not is unclear, but what we do know is that Grant is still looking good all these years later.

And as for McCutcheon, she hasn't aged a single day and is in the crowd radiating lots of love for her husband. That's right, husband. Apparently their flirtationship wasn't just a fleeting thing; the two are now happily married. So, it's really everything you'd want for the couple.

The Love Actually special feature is only 10 minutes long, so it's uncertain how much real screen time the two will actually get in the long run. However, with so many depressing storylines that'll probably be left unresolved, the pair certainly shine a cheerful light on the production, no matter how big or small their roles will actually be.

The Love Actually sequel won't actually air until the Red Nose Day BBC telethon March 24 for viewers in the U.K. and on NBC May 25 in the United States. Until then, keep an eye out for more behind-the-scenes pics, and hopefully more hints of happily ever afters.
