The Confetti Hair Trend Makes Every Day Your Birthday

by Alexa Tucker

Now this is what I call a party-ready look. The latest colorful dye trend is called "confetti hair," and the technique is definitely worthy of celebration. Created by Karen Lewis, the owner of Blondies Of Melbourne salon, it's eye-catching, unique, and so fun. The only thing missing is a cake and some sparkler candles. (But that can be arranged once you've got the hair to match, too.)

"It's soft, pretty, happy, and it imparts little spots of pure joy on the hair like confetti," Lewis told Cosmopolitan.com.

She also gave the site a quick tutorial for those with blonde or bleached hair (it works best on light colors) — by alternating cotton-candy colored shades like pastel blue, pink, and yellow with your "base" hair, you, too, can look like you just emerged from a four-day gender reveal party (in the best way ever, I might add). Cosmpolitan.com also notes that while the Blondies Of Melbourne salon uses Pravana dyes, you could also try Manic Panic shades for a more temporary trial look.

Here's a peek at what confetti hair looks like in action. On one hand, the final look is sweet and feminine, and on the other, it's a trippy optical illusion. But it's definitely 100 percent unexpected. Next step, matching party hat? Here's what it looks like still wet...

And the final result.

Oooh, ahhh.

So pretty braided, too.

Of course, this is far from the first colorful hairstyle to take the internet by storm. Here are five other cool, creative dye jobs that've popped up.

1. Rainbow Roots

This unique trend was also started by Blondies Of Melbourne.

2. Pearl Hair

Pretty in pearl.

3. Succulent Hair

When you finally have no more room in your apartment for actual succulents.

4. Unicorn Hair

I aspire to be as cool as this 6-year-old.

5. Unicorn Frappuccino Hair

Not to be confused with regular unicorn hair, this takes things a sweet step further.
