Joe just turned 50 — Trader Joe's, that is. I know, I know. He looks amazing for his age. To celebrate the anniversary, Trader Joe's top 50 products, selected by customers and team members, were featured in the Fearless Flyer newsletter; and now I'm hungry.
TJ's has stolen our hearts for years (50, to be precise) with its Hawaiian vibe, innovative snacks, hard-to-find treasures, and killer prices — something they accomplish by buying directly from suppliers, bargaining for better deals, buying in volume, nixing additional fees for suppliers, and keeping their own costs low, which means a better price tag for you.
Their actions paid off; and what started as a small chain of convenience stores in 1958 (#throwback to Pronto Markets!) evolved into the Trader Joe's we all know and love today. Joe's is known for offering the best prices on items you'll have a hard time finding elsewhere, employees who always look happy (seriously, no one else loves their job that much), and perhaps the most dangerous dessert section of any grocery store in the United States.
Although my beloved plantain chips didn't make the list (what were you guys thinking?), TJ deserves a huge shoutout. In honor of Trader Joe's 50th anniversary celebration, here are the fans' top picks for their 50 best items. Happy Birthday, Joe!
