On Wednesday, Kanye West announced on Twitter that he's a Donald Trump supporter, calling the president "my brother" and explaining that both of them "are dragon energy." He sent several follow up tweets explaining his position on Trump, but of course, it was the tweet about his and Trump's "dragon energy" that captured Twitter's attention, with one user arguing that the cryptic phrase "is gonna be the new covfefe."

"You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him," West wrote in a tweet. "We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."

In subsequent tweets, West said that he's "not a democrat or a republican" and that, despite his affinity for Trump, "I love Hillary [Clinton] too." Later in the day, he tweeted a picture of himself in a Make America Great Again hat, then another one showing that the hat is in fact signed by Trump.

West's public support for Trump was not entirely out of the blue: Days earlier, he tweeted that he "love[s] the way Candace Owens thinks," Owens being a conservative black YouTuber and outspoken supporter of the president.

Nevertheless, many were taken aback not only by West's enthusiastic support for Trump, but also the fact that he used the phrase "dragon energy" to describe the two of them. Twitter quickly got to work dissecting the mysterious phrase.

Here's Another Take

It's unlikely that the war over the pronunciation of "gif" will ever be over but this tweet might soften some of the "gif" versus "jif" hardliners. Here's to hope.

The Orb Of Dragon Energy

If life was a video game, you'd have to go to the underworld to gain dragon energy from the orb of, well, dragon energy. You gotta love the concept.

It seems like West has created two de facto schools of thought if you look at the reactions his tweets received online. He didn't stop with the "dragon energy" rambling but a lot of people already knew whether they were going to root for West or criticize him. Some observers said that West "broke the internet."

Ever since he spoke about "dragon energy," West has shared other thoughts as well. He said Tim Cook and Trump were "two of his favorite people." He also noted that, "Love is the most powerful force in the universe" and that "let's move in love, not fear."

Although he didn't tag anyone, West also noted that he thought the word "fan" was "manipulative." The rapper legend said, "Whenever someone mentions the word "fan" to me it's super manipulative. It's like 'don't do or say this because of your fans.' My fans are fans of themselves."

For now, that's all from his Twitter. The iconic musician bid farewell to his followers on Wednesday evening and said, "That's the last tweet of the day. I did that one for my god-brother Puff. Now I'ma go watch the Cavs."
