Watch Fitz Unravel The Killer's Identity On 'Manhunt: Unabomber'

Most true crime fanatics will remember Ted Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, who was arrested and convicted in the late '90s after he plead guilty to 16 bombings that killed three people and injured dozens. Now, Discovery Channel has made the official leap into the true crime arena with a new series dedicated to covering the case from beginning to end. Airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m., Manhunt: Unabomber is an eight episode look into the the Unabomber's mind, as well as those of the agents who cracked the case. Now, watch Sam Worthington as FBI agent and criminal profiler James Fitzgerald in an exclusive clip from Manhunt: Unabomber's Aug. 8 episode as he starts to unravel the Unabomber's mystery.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this particular case and the way that Kaczynski was eventually caught has to do with the use of his own manifesto that was published in the New York Times. Using specific language patterns in the Unabomber's own writing, Fitzgerald was able to create a criminal profile of the killer that turned out to be unbelievably accurate — and he did it using only language. In this video clip from Tuesday's Manhunt: Unabomber, Worthington's Fitz can be seen pulling personality traits, lifestyle choices, and motivations purely out of the words that were sent by the Unabomber himself. But, more importantly, Fitz also used what wasn't there to try to discern just who this bomber was. It's a fascinating look at how we all reveal pieces of ourselves in what we write, and it's clear from the clip that the Unabomber made a grave mistake when he sent that manifesto.
