The incorporation of North Korea in Hollywood productions has historically been problematic for furthering world peace. Just think about the hacking of Sony Pictures after The Interview mocked the North's leader. But President Trump's North Korea summit video trailer was made anyways, and he showed it before his press conference and — apparently — to Kim himself. You'll have to watch it for yourself.

The oddly dramatic video painted Trump and Kim as the potential saviors of planet Earth. The choice, though, is up to Kim, the video implies. The "Destiny Pictures" production touts "President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un.... in a meeting to remake history."

And then it gives Kim a choice:

Will this leader choose to advance his country and be part of a new world? Be the hero of his people? Will he shake the hand of peace and enjoy prosperity like he has never seen? A great life or more isolation? Which path will be chosen?

The video may sound silly, but its influence is not to be underestimated. There are reports that Trump showed the video to Kim on an iPad, meaning that this movie could help decide U.S.-North Korean relations for years to come.

The reporters who saw the video before the press conference saw it as an odd addition to the Singapore summit. BuzzFeed News tweeted, "President Trump played quite a dramatic video before his press conference." That was retweeted by their global news director, Lisa Tozzi. "Fever dream news cycle," she wrote. Then responding to herself, she posted a link to the YouTube video and commented, "Here's a closer look at that bizarre video."

The video that BuzzFeed News posted is just a short clip, but you can see the way that it was shown in the conference room. The video was projected on either side of the stage that Trump spoke on.

Of the many videos that are edited together in the trailer are clips of Machu Picchu, missiles being shot, nuclear weapons exploding, skyscrapers, food markets, and more. In essence, they show the juxtaposition of the question that faces Kim: to make a deal with Trump or not.

The voice over says:

Destiny Pictures presents a story of opportunity. A new story, a new beginning. One of peace. Two men, two leaders, one destiny. A story about a special moment in time, when a man is presented with one chance which may never be repeated. What will he choose? To show vision and leadership? Or not?

The video shows Kim's personal deal with Trump as the first step in a large number of changes for the betterment of North Korea. "A new world can begin today," the trailer voiceover continues. "One of friendship, respect, and goodwill. Be part of that world, where the doors of opportunity are ready to be opened — investment from around the world, where you can have medical breakthroughs, an abundance of resources, innovative technology, and new discoveries."

"I think he loved it," Trump told reporters during his press conference, just after the public viewing, explaining that eight North Korean representatives watched it on an iPad. "I thought they were fascinated by it. I thought it was well done. I showed it to you because that is the future. That could very well be the future. The other alternative is not a good alternative. It is just not good. I showed it because I really want him to do something. I don’t think I had to show it. I really believe he wants to get it done."

If the negotiation of the denuclearization of Korea is as black and white as the trailer presents it, the summit will be a success.
